The Room for Water project, led by the UBC Coastal Adaptation Lab (CAL), explores how water can be managed across the Lower River floodplain to reduce flood risk, improve ecological health, and strengthen community resilience. Working at watershed, and local scales, the project combines spatial analysis, community engagement, and design-based research to identify opportunities for adaptive land use nature-based flood management. Through partnerships between First Nations communities and landscape architects, the project develops visualizations and design concepts that help communities explore solutions to local watershed challenges.
