Grant Writing Workshop with Reichert and Associates Feb 21 & 28
Join EPS and Instructor Stephen Reichert from Reichert and Associates for a Virtual Grant Writing Workshop. The interactive workshop will held over virtual Zoom and split over 2 days, February 21 and February 28, starting at 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm both days for (a total of 5 hours). The training will provide an opportunity for participants to gain firsthand knowledge from an experienced grant writer and strategist.
At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will have a practical understanding of the grant-seeking relationships that need to be cultivated within and outside their organizations; how to develop a funding idea and “package” it; and, how to create a successful strategy for sustainable grant writing.

Emergency Management, Planning and Response Training and Exercises
As part of Helixw Sq'eq'o, the Mainland Coast Salish Disaster Resilience Regional Action Plan, EPS is tailoring an Emergency Management Training and Exercise Program for the First Nation communities in the region. This program is led by a Technical Working Group of community representatives to identify and address the unique and shared community needs, challenges and goals to improve regional resiliency through coordination and collaboration. ICS course description: The Incident Command System is a standard on site command and control system used to manage emergency incidents and planned events, used across agencies cooperatively for interoperability.
ICS training would be particularly beneficial to operations staff at community sites and facilities, as well as Human Resources (HR), Public Relations (PR), and Health and Safety personnel (HSE), who may be required at act as a liaison or information officers at incidents.
ICS I-100, Introduction to the Incident Command System, introduces the Incident Command System (ICS) and provides the foundation for higher level ICS training. This course describes the history, features and principles, and organizational structure of the Incident Command System.
ICS I- 200, Basic ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents is designed to enable personnel to operate efficiently during an incident or event within the Incident Command System (ICS). ICS-200 provides training on and resources for personnel who are likely to assume a supervisory position within the ICS.
ICS I-300, Intermediate ICS, ICS for Expanding Incidents, defines the unique qualities of ICS as an event or incident management system in an expanding situation. The course is designed to enable personnel to operate efficiently using the ICS in a supervisory roles on expanding incidents. The course units and lessons provide a review of ICS fundamentals, assessing incidents and setting objectives, Unified Command, Resource Management, the planning process, demobilization, transfer and termination of command of an incident.
ICS I-400, Advanced ICS, is designed to enable personnel to operate efficiently in the advanced application of the Incident Command System. This course provides training for personnel who are expected to perform in a management capacity in a complex incident environment.
ICS- I-402, Incident Command System for Executives introduces the Incident Command System (ICS) and provides the foundation for executive understanding and participation in the ICS. This course describes the history, features and principles, and organizational structure of the Incident Command System, including the relationship between the Incident Commander and Agency Executives. Course participants will be better prepared to function within an ICS environment.

Swiftwater Awareness Training - EMBC has partnered with Rescue Canada to deliver free training in swiftwater awareness. You’ll learn how the river works, and how to recognize hazards and mitigate them. You’ll learn safety techniques for how to operate around and in the river. As well we offer training in self-rescue (if you fall in), companion rescue (if your partner falls in), and subject rescue (improvised and organized rescue response). This course is available to complete at any time.

First Nation Technology Council in partnership with Flytbox Aerial Solutions are offering Indigenous communities and organizations in BC comprehensive training in the theory, set up and application of drones with an Indigenous community context. Students will be provided with a foundational understanding of management through experiential learning, ground school, and applied learning to prepare students for the Transport Canada Small Basic RPAS exam. In addition, students will receive their Restricted Radio Operator Certificate with an Aeronautical qualification (ROC-A).

This Riparian Areas Protection Regulation training course is designed for individuals who are Qualified Environmental Professionals (QEPs) or who work with QEPs who conduct Riparian Areas Protection Regulation assessments. This three-day course is offered through Vancouver Island University (formerly Malaspina College) and provides a detailed overview of the Regulation and the Assessment Methodology.
An online but highly interactive 12-hour workshop will engage the learner in the proposal writing field to procure granting funds. Through constant interaction, feedback and thought provoking exercises during the two days, students will obtain the skills to be able to create unique and well planned project proposals that address a current challenge within an group/society/community, while meeting the criteria of the funding organization.
FEMA is the American agency responsible for helping individuals, communities and partner organizations understand and reduce disaster risk, leading the coordination of federal response efforts to stabilize communities after a disaster, and providing support for initiatives to build back and become more resilient. It builds collaborative partnerships, delivers federal assistance, and provides resources to help individuals and communities review, build, and continuously improve their own capabilities.
